CertainTeed Architectural is growing its presence in Northeast Ohio, moving from Lakewood to Strongsville outside of Cleveland. A subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, CertainTeed is considered one of the largest and oldest building products companies in the nation.

With the move, the company plans to add an additional 38 positions to its existing staff of 28, more than doubling its size in Northeast Ohio. The company will make a capital investment of $2,400,000.

The expansion is needed to allow the company to increase its production volume of specialty architectural materials. The new location also allows for future growth in Ohio.

“Our new facility in Strongsville will give our team the space and modern features necessary to maximize our impact as a leader in light and sustainable construction while serving our customers during this time of unprecedented demand,” said Regan Gallo, vice president and general manager of CertainTeed Architectural Product Group. “This expansion is an investment in our future – we are committed to our employees, the people of Strongsville and Northeastern Ohio. We thank the State of Ohio for its support.” Along with JobsOhio and the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) Team NEO worked collaboratively with CertainTeed’s leadership to build the case for expanding in the Northeast Ohio region.

“The Northeast Ohio Region is an ideal match for CertainTeed Ceilings to grow their business with our 7,700 manufacturing facilities and robust supply chain,” said Bill Koehler, CEO of Team NEO. “Along with our local partners, ODOD and JobsOhio, we look forward to working with the company to ensure their continued growth here.”

CertainTeed previously acquired a company with a leased location in an old car dealership facility in Lakewood outside of Cleveland. With the lease coming to a close, CertainTeed considered the site is too small to accommodate growth plans. So moving was inevitable. The question was whether the expanded operation should co-locate at one of the existing CertainTeed facilities or find a new location in/around the Greater Cleveland area. The company obviously chose the latter.

As a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, CertainTeed is a part of a company considered to be the worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction. Saint-Gobain designs, manufactures and distributes materials and services for the construction and industrial markets. Its integrated solutions for the renovation of public and private buildings, light construction and the decarbonization of construction and industry are developed through a continuous innovation process and provide sustainability and performance.

CertainTeed, headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, has helped shape the building products industry for more than 115 years. Founded in 1904 as General Roofing Manufacturing Company,

the firm’s slogan “Quality Made Certain, Satisfaction Guaranteed,” inspired the name CertainTeed. Today, CertainTeed is a leading North American brand of exterior and interior building products, including roofing, siding, solar, fence, railing, trim, insulation, drywall and ceilings.

Last month, Saint-Gobain North America and CertainTeed received three 2022 Manufacturing Leadership Awards from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). The company was recognized for its achievements in digital network connectivity and circular economy, and one of the company’s research engineers was recognized with a next-generation leadership award.
