Amazon to build $1 billion data center in Marysville
Marysville has been chosen as the site of a new $1 billion Amazon data center. According to the city, Amazon has plans to provide more than $15 million to the Marysville Exempted Village School District and city over the next 15 years as part of its investment.
City Manager Terry Emery called the new center, which will create at least 25 new jobs, “a significant step” for the city. “It reinforces our city’s ability to attract leading technology companies,” she said in a press release.

Kroger announces last year’s profits
The grocer beat analyst predictions to bring in 2.7 billion in the last fiscal year from 147.1 billion in sales. Just in the fourth quarter of 2024, Kroger earned $634 million on $34.3 billion in sales.
This news comes at the heels of the Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen stepping down among a personal conduct investigation.

President Trump’s comments on the CHIPS Act threaten New Albany Intel plant
The president called the law “a horrible, horrible thing.” The act, which was signed into law by former President Joe Biden, has helped fund the new plant in New Albany, sparking concern about the already-stalled project.
Jon Husted, the recently appointed Republican Senator from Ohio, expressed support for the legislation, calling it “one of the only major bipartisan pieces of legislation to pass in the last Congress.”

Cleveland Browns offer “up-front” cash for new stadium
The team offered the money after asking the state to help pay for the stadium via $600 million of state-issued bonds. The offered $38.2 million would be tapped if the revenue from the stadium project and surrounding development doesn’t cover the cost of the bonds.
The proposed stadium in Brook Park was spearheaded by team owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam, who are putting $1.2 billion into the project.
