A Sweet Expansion

Dupon USA is expanding its presence in Central Ohio with a new $33 million manufacturing facility, a move expected to create 60 jobs and strengthen the region’s role in food production and advanced manufacturing.

The Belgium-based company, which specializes in equipment and solutions for ice cream industry, will construct a 175,000-square-foot facility on the city’s east side. The plant will produce baked wafers and cookies used by ice cream manufacturers and other food producers.

The project marks a significant expansion of Dupon USA’s existing footprint in Columbus, where it already maintains corporate and logistics operations. In addition to the 60 new jobs, the company will retain 28 current positions.

Company leaders say the investment reflects growing demand across North America and positions Dupon USA to better serve its customer base. CEO Dick D’Hoore called the expansion “an important next step” in the company’s U.S. growth, citing Columbus’ infrastructure, market access and business environment as key factors in the decision.

Government officials also described the project as a sign of continued economic momentum in the region. Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther described the investment as a “vote of confidence” in the city.

The project was supported through collaboration between JobsOhio, the Ohio Department of Development and regional partners including One Columbus.

Dupon USA’s expansion highlights the growing role of international companies investing in Central Ohio, particularly in the food and agribusiness sector, one of the state’s largest industries.
