Picanova Inc. has recently announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art facility in Obetz, Ohio, replacing its current facility in Miami, Florida. This facility will occupy a portion of the Huckberry Warehouse at 4000 Creekside Parkway in Obetz.
Picanova Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of The Customization Group (TCG) and a global leader in custom wall decor and other lifestyle products. The Customization Group evolved from Picanova’s start in a garage in Cologne, Germany, back in 2006. From there, the company grew into one of the world’s top mass customization providers. Picanova offers more than printed photos; it offers consumers personalized home goods such as mugs, blankets, doormats and more. Today, TCG boasts its five production sites located throughout Europe and the United States as well as its production capacity of 500,000 customized products a day.
“With this strategic move, we’re not only strengthening our U.S. presence, but also creating high-quality jobs and significantly improving delivery speed and service for our American customers,” says Philipp Mühlbauer, CEO of The Customization Group.
The new facility will be a major expansion for the company’s North American footprint and will enhance service, streamline delivery and support long-term growth for Picanova in the region. The company’s focus on custom, on-demand products will pair well with Ohio’s strengths in manufacturing and distribution, creating the perfect conditions for mutual success, according to the company. Additionally, another attraction of the state is the growth of the tech industry with expertise in cybersecurity, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and more.
“Picanova’s investment establishing its first Midwestern facility in Obetz underscores how the state has established itself as a national leader in innovative, tech-driven manufacturing,” says J.P. Nauseef, president and CEO of JobsOhio. “With access to world-class logistics and a growing base of skilled talent, Picanova’s new facility is perfectly positioned to serve American customers and accelerate its North American growth.”
In addition, this multimillion-dollar investment will bring 246 new jobs to Obetz, Ohio, with plans to start hiring immediately. The company is estimated to generate $13 million in annual payroll and has been awarded a 1.599% job creation tax credit by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority for the project. This addition to the region will serve as Picanova’s second hub in the United States, the first being residing in Phoenix, Arizona.
“The arrival of Picanova is a significant win for Obetz and our residents. This investment brings new jobs, opportunities and energy to our community,” says Angela Kirk, mayor of Obetz. “We are proud to welcome a global innovator that sees the value in our people and our location.”
