Wyandot Snacks Launches $7.7 Million Expansion in Marion, Ohio
By Joe Frye
Wyandot Snacks, a leading manufacturer of private-label snack foods, has unveiled a major investment to modernize its Marion production facility. The company plans to spend $7.7 million to make upgrades, including cutting-edge machinery and equipment. The project is slated to create 67 new jobs and retain more than 260 existing positions. Beyond immediate business gains, the automation and technology upgrades are expected to make operations more efficient and create new skilled roles.

Lori Roberts, an executive at Wyandot, emphasized that the expansion—built on nearly a century of roots in Marion—reinforces the company’s long-standing connection with the community. “For nearly a hundred years, Wyandot has been deeply rooted in Marion. We are thrilled to reaffirm our commitment to this community with this investment,” she says. “This expansion strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality snack products while advancing our operations with cutting-edge technology. Marion’s skilled workforce, strong business climate, and community support have played a pivotal role in our decision to grow here. We look forward to continuing our engagement with the local community.”
Founded in 1936 as Wyandot Popcorn Co., the company has evolved into one of the country’s premier manufacturers of grain-based snacks, cereals, chips, and other plant-based small bites. Wyandot continues to serve global food marketers, restaurants and retailers, with its branding as a better-for-you and customized private-label products.

The project also drew local support, with Marion Mayor Bill Collins applauding the announcement. He praised the infusion of good jobs and economic promise for area families. “Marion is a city built on hard work and perseverance, and this investment is a win for the families who call our community home,” said Marion Mayor Bill Collins. “Wyandot has been a part of Marion for generations, providing good jobs and opportunities for our residents. This expansion means even more families will have the chance to build a future here. We are proud to see Wyandot continue to believe in our people and our community.”
Economic development leaders also welcomed the move. J.P. Nauseef, president and CEO of JobsOhio, framed the investment as a clear testament to Ohio’s robust workforce, infrastructure, and business environment. He stressed that Wyandot’s strategic expansion is a boost not only to the company but also to the broader Columbus region.
